Sadler

About us

The Sadler and Starlight Owners’ Association is a vibrant and active community for owners, crew members, prospective purchasers, as well as all those interested in this range of iconic British yachts. Founded in 1978 we have 501 members, mostly based in the UK and Ireland but also on mainland Europe and as far afield as North America, Australia, Africa and The Far East. Members own 465 yachts across ten different classes.

The Association currently has five active regional branches around the UK coast and is hoping to develop more. The branches organise sponsored rallies, land based social events and presentations and also act as a focal point for informal cruises and other activities proposed by members.

Nationally we own a plethora of information useful to owners of Sadlers and Starlights and this is augmented by an extremely knowledgeable membership with a wealth of experience to share about sailing, maintaining and refurbishing their yachts.

Our Events

My photo

We run a wide variety of fun and exciting events for our members

We have local branches covering the South coast, West country, the East coast, the Irish sea and the West coast of Scotland. Each of these runs regular social events and rallies where you can meet like-minded owners and make new friends. More adventurous longer cruises also take place giving less experienced skippers the opportunity to broaden their horizons in supportive company.

Click here to get a flavour for some of the events we have organised in the recent past and what we plan for the future.

Our events programme includes:

Weekend and Other Rallies

Sailing, socialising, sharing knowledge.

Longer Cruises

More adventurous and over a number of days. Aimed at bringing branches together.

Social Events and Talks

Any excuse for a get-together, even in the darker months.

Our mobile AGM

Every year a different part of the country. Business yes but with a large social element.

Other Events

With such a long coastline and not all members close to a current branch we are keen to support any new initiative. Join us and volunteer to develop the SSOA in your area.

Our Resources

My photo

Joining the SSOA gives you access to a wealth of knowledge about how to solve maintenance problems

Our greatest resource is our members who between them have unrivalled knowledge and experience of how to sail and maintain Sadler and Starlight yachts and are ready to share this with other members.

This body of knowledge is supplemented by huge array of online resources available through the Members' area of our website ranging from technical articles to online discussion groups and forums.

Finally members can also join our extremely active Facebook Group. Detailed, knowledgeable and often instantaneous answers to nearly every question are just a click away.

Our resources include:

Talks & Informal Seminars

We arrange a variety of interesting talks and informal seminars on practical maintenance and support issues.

Online Forum

Containing many years accumulated knowledge and discussion on topics of interest to Sadler and Starlight owners.

Online Document Library

Our searchable on-line library contains hundreds of documents from recent times but also dating back to the earliest days of Sadler yachts some fifty years ago.

Facebook Group

Our extremely active group allows you to share experiences but also to get answers to literally any question about sailing, maintaining or upgrading your Sadler or Starlight. Someone will have faced the same problem before and be happy to share their solution.
